The history of the postal service is filled with remarkable stories, but few are as unusual and humorous as that of Harry Turner, the Guernsey resident who succeeded in having himself conveyed to Sark as a postal item. In 1905, Turner made postal history as being the first person to be delivered by mail: he arranged to be transported from Guernsey to Sark through an obscure provision of the postal regulations.
