Guernsey celebrates a year of stamps with 2021 collection

Philatelic bureau also announces its first quarter 2022 stamp programme

Guernsey Post is delighted to announce the release of this year’s complete collection of stamps, which are available to purchase in colourful Guernsey and Alderney folders from 1 December 2021.

Each folder contains the full set of stamps released for each island during 2021, along with the stamp specification details and a set of mint stamps. The folders include the souvenir and miniature sheets released for each island this year.

Bridget Yabsley, head of philatelic at Guernsey Post, said: - “We were delighted with the response from our collectors when we launched our folders last year, which provide the option of purchasing Guernsey or Alderney specific stamps – or both. Beautifully presented in full colour, they retail at the price of the stamps they contain, making them excellent value for money.”

The Guernsey folder contains commemorative issues including four stamps to mark the centenary of the formation of the Royal British Legion, and special stamps to mark The Queen’s 95th birthday. The first stamp in a new series, Clematis Gold, which features award-winning clematis cultivated by world renowned nurseryman and Guernsey grower, Raymond Evison OBE, as well as Guernsey’s Europa stamps depicting Endangered Native Wildlife, also feature among the diverse range of topics.

Highlights from the Alderney Folder include commemorative stamps to mark the anniversary of the introduction of decimalisation in the Bailiwick 50 years ago, along with a special set of stamps in celebration of the life of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Stamps depicting scenes from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s famous novel The Secret Garden are also featured.

Christmas stamps for Guernsey and Alderney are also included in each folder, which this year reflect the story of the Biblical nativity, also known as the Christmas story, and recount the birth of Jesus.
