Macao 2026 and Fortune Feast: The Spirit of The Fire Horse

To mark participation in the Macao 2026 exhibition, Guernsey Post produced a Cinderella Exhibition Sheet inspired by 2026 – the Year of the Fire Horse. In the Chinese zodiac, the Horse is associated with independence, movement, vitality and optimism. When combined with the Fire element, these qualities are intensified, creating a year traditionally linked with energy, ambition, courage and transformation. Fire Horse years are believed to favour bold ideas, creativity, decisive action and new beginnings, while also encouraging generosity, passion and leadership.

The exhibition sheet, FORTUNE FEAST, reflects these themes through a graceful Fire Horse whose flame‑shaped mane and tail subtly evoke the element of fire. She pours tea, symbolising harmony, respect and tranquillity, while sharing symbols of prosperity including gold, an ang bao money packet and an orange. A smaller pony drinks from this offering, representing the passing of blessings and good fortune across generations. Decorative plum blossom motifs appear throughout the design, reinforcing ideas of resilience, perseverance and hope.

The presentation pack cover, LEAP OF FORTUNE, captures the spirit of the Fire Horse in motion. Leaping confidently amid gold coins, auspicious clouds and fireworks, the horse embodies progress, celebration and forward momentum. A Chinese gourd (hulu) carried by the horse symbolises good fortune, protection, harmony and longevity, while a gold coin balanced on a back hoof highlights skill, balance and optimism. Flame‑like details and plum blossoms once again reference the Fire Horse’s strength and enduring spirit.

Together, these designs honour the Year of the Fire Horse and the ideals of Macao 2026, celebrating prosperity, cultural symbolism and the shared global language of philately.

This exhibition souvenir was created by Chrissy Lau who created our Chinese New Year series 2014-2025.
