Guernsey Post’s philatelic bureau announces that it will vend Post & Go stamps with a special overprint to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Liberation Day. The overprint on the Guernsey flag design will be printed on the GG02 kiosk located at Postal Headquarters.
2020 is the 75th anniversary of Guernsey's liberation, commemorating the island’s freedom from German occupation during World War II.
The occupation of Guernsey began at around 8.30pm on Sunday 30 June, with German troop numbers roughly equaling the number of remaining islanders who had to endure hunger, poor medical attention – and fear.
After five long years, surrender of the Channel Islands eventually took place during the early hours of 9 May 1945, the day after Victory in Europe, VE Day. Malnourished - but nevertheless joyous - crowds gathered on St Peter Port seafront and harbour as the first British Troops landed.
The new overprint will be available between the 9 – 15 May 2020 and will read:

Due to the current lock down restrictions, customers may order the GG02 collector strip without incurring an admin charge, either online at Guernsey Stamps’ website, or by contacting philatelic customer service, where orders for other collector strip variations can also be placed.

The stamps are available to buy in strips of six for £4.47 (excluding VAT), the stamps vend in the following values:
o Gsy letter up to 100g – 48p
o UK letter up to 100g – 65p
o Gsy large letter up to 100g – 66p
o EUR letter up to 20g – 80p
o ROW letter up to 20g – 90p
o UK large letter up to 100g – 98p
