Laura Bechtolshelmer, Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester won the Equestrian Dressage Team Gold Medal on Tuesday 7 August 2012.

Carl Hester was born on the Isle of Sark in the Bailiwick in 1967 and it was here that he developed his passion for riding. At the age of 19, Carl moved to Hampshire to work at a riding school and shortly after this he started to compete.

During his career Carl has won 51 national domestic dressage titles and in 2011 he won team gold and individual silver at the European Championships.

Guernsey Post to mark Carl Hester's Olympic success with the Bailiwick's first ever golden Postbox.

To celebrate Carl Hester's Gold medal Olympic performance in this year's Olympic Games, Guernsey Post is going to be transforming the colour of Sark's traditional Postbox from blue to gold!

Cassandra Morris of Guernsey Post said: "We are all thrilled for Carl and the rest of his team for achieving a gold medal.

Royal Mail has been celebrating every British gold medal by painting a Postbox in each of the Olympians' hometown. We believe that this is a truly unique way to mark these achievements and we're delighted to join in the celebration by painting Sark's Postbox gold."

This is the first time that Guernsey Post has changed the colour of Sark's Postbox since it was painted blue in 1980, 11 years after the company became independent from the British Post Office in 1969.
